"Cruz' was originally registered as a foal, with AQHA, shortly he was found to have a bit too much white for the rules and his papers were cancelled, he was then registered with APHA. In March 2001 the AQHA white rules were changed and Cruz was eligible to be re-registered, as of August 2001 he was officially registered with AQHA & APHA. This double registration offers a few unique possibilities for mare owners; AQHA mares, the possibility of color and the potential of a double registered foal. APHA mares benefit from a high percentage of color possibility without the chance of a lethal white. Both AQHA & APHA mares benefit from a proven and popular World Champion ".AQHA pedigree, and foals being eligible for both Associations incentive programs and major Northwest Futurities. He is registered as an Overo, but is actually a sub-type of Overo called a minimal Sabino, which is identified by the splashy white blaze, white under the chin and jaw, roaning through-out his coat, "coon' tail, and splashy white stockings that run up the fronts of his hind legs. So Cruz has it all and passes it on to his foals.
In limited showing as a yearling, Cruz acquired 33 Halter points and placed 1" in 3 futurities. As a 2 year old in limited showing, Cruz acquired 48 more Halter points. He was also 4th on the APHA Open Honor Roll in August of his 2-yearold year and 11th at the World Show. Cruz has a total of 86 Open Halter points, earning a Superior in Halter. He began his show career in Western Pleasure and Trail at 4 years old, with only 90 days of professional training. That year he was Year End Champion Jr. Western Pleasure Horse and Am. West. Pleasure Horse for a regional East Coast Paint Horse Club. He has 48 Western Pleasure points and points in Open Trail. As of June 2005, Cruz completed his APHA Championship!
